lululemon warranty & return policy — and how to actually claim it

Every line below is quoted from lululemon's own published policy and linked to the source. If something you bought is covered, Owed's agent can draft and send the claim for you.

Warranty

12 monthsstated window

The Quality Promise is lululemon's defect coverage, separate from the 30-day return window: lululemon will replace any item that does not perform as intended within one year of purchase. Worth knowing before you file, because the internet says otherwise — the published promise is one year, not the open-ended coverage widely repeated in return-policy guides. Every Quality Promise return is handled case by case, proof of purchase or identification is required, and items affected by ordinary wear and tear, personal preference, misuse or accidents are excluded. That last line is where most claims turn: the question is whether the item failed to perform as intended, not whether it wore out.

In their own words

Quality is the heart of who we are. Quality shows up in our people, our conversations and of course, our product. If your item isn’t performing as intended, we will work with you to make it right.

Our Quality Promise

We will replace any item that doesn’t perform as intended within one year of purchase subject to the following conditions:

Our Quality Promise — the term

All Quality Promise returns are handled on a case-by-case basis

Conditions

Proof of purchase or identification required

Conditions

Items impacted by ordinary wear and tear, personal preference, misuse or accidents are not eligible for return

Conditions

What they exclude

  • Items impacted by ordinary wear and tear
  • Items returned for personal preference
  • Items impacted by misuse or accidents
  • All Quality Promise returns are handled case by case, so nothing is automatic

How to file

Submit a Quality Promise request through the form on lululemon's Quality Promise page, or take the item into your local store. Expect a case-by-case review rather than an automatic replacement, and bring proof of purchase or identification. Frame the claim around how the product failed to perform as intended — describe the failure, when it began, and how the item was used and cared for.

If they say no

A first refusal is not the end — most claims that get paid are the ones that got answered a second time. The ladder that works:

  1. Reply in the same thread quoting the exact policy line above, with your order number and the date. Ask for a supervisor or a formal complaint reference.
  2. Escalate to an executive contact if support stalls — a specific, documented request outperforms an angry one.
  3. Use your payment rail: a card chargeback for "not as described" or "item not received" (typically within 60 days of the statement under the US Fair Credit Billing Act, and up to 120 days under card-network rules — confirm the exact window with your issuer), or a PayPal dispute.
  4. For lost or damaged shipments, file a claim with the carrier directly.
  5. Escalate externally: the selling platform's guarantee, BBB, your state attorney general, or the FTC. Small claims is the last resort.
