lululemon return policy — the real window, and how to use it

Every line below is quoted from lululemon's own published return policy and linked to the source. If they're refusing a return you're entitled to, Owed's agent can push it for you.

Returns & refunds

30 daysstated window

lululemon takes returns and exchanges within 30 days of the delivery date for online orders or the purchase date in store. Product has to be unworn and unwashed with hang tags attached, in original packaging, with proof of purchase — with one exception worth knowing: shoes can be worn, provided they come back in the box. Returns can be made by mail or at a store, but not at lululemon outlet stores, and exchanges are in-store only. Sale items from We Made Too Much are final sale for non-members; members can return them for a lululemon gift card. Refunds go to the original card or a gift card. Everything is at lululemon's discretion, including whether an item counts as unworn, and the policy explicitly reserves the right to reject future returns for excessive or unreasonable return activity.

In their own words

If you’re having second thoughts about your order, purchases made within 30 days can be returned or exchanged, subject to the Terms and Conditions below.

Return Policy

Returns can be made online by mail or in person at your closest store location, but can’t be processed at lululemon outlet stores. For an exchange, please visit a lululemon store.

Return Policy — where

Product must be unworn and unwashed, with the hang tags attached, in original packaging (if applicable), and accompanied by proof of purchase

The fine print

If you’ve tested out your shoes and they’re not working out, we’re happy to provide a full refund or exchange within 30 days of the original purchase date. Shoes must be in the box and accompanied by proof of purchase.

Footwear policy

All returns are handled on a case-by-case basis and ultimately at lululemon’s discretion, including determining whether an item is unworn and unwashed, with the intent of providing the best experience to our guests. Potential fraud or abuse of this policy, including excessive or unreasonable returns, may result in the rejection of future transactions or returns.

Terms and conditions

If we choose to provide a refund beyond 30 days or in the event there’s no proof of purchase, refunds will be applied to a lululemon gift card or in accordance with applicable local laws.

Terms and conditions — late or undocumented returns

What they exclude

  • Worn or washed product, or product missing its hang tags or original packaging
  • Gift cards and other final sale items
  • Sale items from We Made Too Much are final sale unless you are a member
  • Customized product is final sale
  • Returns cannot be processed at lululemon outlet stores
  • Potential fraud or abuse of the policy, including excessive or unreasonable returns

How to file

Start the return online, or take the item to a lululemon store — but not an outlet, which cannot process returns. Exchanges have to be done in a store. If lululemon grants a refund past 30 days or without proof of purchase, it comes back as a lululemon gift card rather than to your card.

If they say no

A first refusal is not the end — most claims that get paid are the ones that got answered a second time. The ladder that works:

  1. Reply in the same thread quoting the exact policy line above, with your order number and the date. Ask for a supervisor or a formal complaint reference.
  2. Escalate to an executive contact if support stalls — a specific, documented request outperforms an angry one.
  3. Use your payment rail: a card chargeback for "not as described" or "item not received" (typically within 60 days of the statement under the US Fair Credit Billing Act, and up to 120 days under card-network rules — confirm the exact window with your issuer), or a PayPal dispute.
  4. For lost or damaged shipments, file a claim with the carrier directly.
  5. Escalate externally: the selling platform's guarantee, BBB, your state attorney general, or the FTC. Small claims is the last resort.
