LG Refrigerators warranty — the real coverage, and how to claim it
LG publishes a different warranty for each product line. Every line below is quoted from LG's own published terms for Refrigerators and linked to the source.
Warranty
12 monthsstated window
LG publishes a separate limited warranty for each product category rather than one brand-wide document; the terms quoted here are LG's USA refrigerator warranty, the category people search hardest. Coverage is one year parts and labor on the refrigerator itself, five years parts and labor on the sealed system (condenser, dryer, connecting tube and evaporator) and five years parts and labor on the compressor — extended for linear and inverter compressors to parts only in years six through ten, with you paying labor. Coverage runs to the original retail purchaser only. Two clauses decide real claims: proof of original retail purchase specifying model and date is required, and without it LG dates your warranty from ninety days after the manufacture date, which can quietly cost you months. Replacement products and parts carry the remainder of the original period or ninety days, whichever is greater, and may be reconditioned or refurbished. The warranty also contains a binding arbitration clause with a class action waiver — but you can opt out within 30 days of purchase by emailing optout@lge.com or calling, and opting out does not reduce your warranty coverage at all.

How to file
Call LG at 1-800-243-0000 and select the appropriate menu option, or start from lg.com support; LG also accepts mail at LG Electronics Customer Service, P.O. Box 240007, Huntsville, AL 35813, ATTN: CIC. Have proof of original retail purchase showing the model and date — without it your coverage is backdated to ninety days after manufacture. If you intend to dispute a denial, note that LG requires 30 days written notice to its Englewood Cliffs legal department before you can start arbitration.

If they say no
A first refusal is not the end — most claims that get paid are the ones that got answered a second time. The ladder that works:
- Reply in the same thread quoting the exact policy line above, with your order number and the date. Ask for a supervisor or a formal complaint reference.
- Escalate to an executive contact if support stalls — a specific, documented request outperforms an angry one.
- Use your payment rail: a card chargeback for "not as described" or "item not received" (typically within 60 days of the statement under the US Fair Credit Billing Act, and up to 120 days under card-network rules — confirm the exact window with your issuer), or a PayPal dispute.
- For lost or damaged shipments, file a claim with the carrier directly.
- Escalate externally: the selling platform's guarantee, BBB, your state attorney general, or the FTC. Small claims is the last resort.
