Hydro Flask warranty & return policy — and how to actually claim it
Every line below is quoted from Hydro Flask's own published policy and linked to the source. If something you bought is covered, Owed's agent can draft and send the claim for you.
Warranty
The Hydro Flask Promise splits in two. Hard goods — hydration, tumbler, coffee, beer, wine, spirits, food and hard-good accessories — carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects for the life of the product. Bags, coolers, totes, slings and lunch boxes get five years. Hydro Flask replaces defective product rather than repairing it, using replacement parts where available, and replaces like for like in the same size and colour, or similar and not of lesser MSRP if yours is discontinued. Two things people get wrong. First, coverage is only for product bought from an authorized dealer, and Hydro Flask reserves the right to demand proof of purchase — a marketplace flask may have nothing. Second, wear and tear is expressly excluded alongside misuse, cleaning damage, disassembly, alterations and modifications, so the claim has to be a manufacturing defect. Useful specifics: a rattling flask is a dislodged insulation disc that does not affect performance, but Hydro Flask will exchange it anyway if it annoys you; and you can test lost insulation at home with boiling water — hot spots on the outside after five minutes make the flask eligible for replacement. Custom or engraved product cannot be reproduced on a replacement.
In their own words
“Hydro Flask Hydration, Tumbler, Coffee, Beer, Wine, Spirits, Food, Hard Good Accessories Products and (collectively, “Hard Goods”) carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer’s defects for the life of the product.”
Hydro Flask Promise: Lifetime Warranty
“Hydro Flask bags, coolers, totes, slings and lunch boxes and bags carry a 5-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects.”
Hydro Flask Promise: 5-Year Warranty
“Warranty Claims will only be accepted by Hydro Flask® if the product was purchased from an authorized dealer and Hydro Flask reserves the right to request proof of purchase”
Warranty conditions
“The limited warranty provided by Hydro Flask® only covers manufacturing defects and does not include any damage or defect of any Hydro Flask® products caused by, whether directly or indirectly, any of the following: (i) improper use or misuse of the product; (ii) damage or defect caused by cleaning, disassembly, alterations, or modifications; or (iii) damage or defect caused by or resulting from wear and tear, abuse, fire, or Acts of God.”
Warranty conditions — what is excluded
“If your Warranty Claim is approved, Hydro Flask® will replace your Hydro Flask® product with the same size and color of product.”
Warranty conditions — replacement
“The rattle you hear is a small metal disc that sits between the double wall of your flask and aids in the vacuum insulation process. Sometimes the disc becomes dislodged, creating a rattling noise when you shake the bottle. This will not affect the insulation or structural integrity of your flask. However, if it is an annoyance, we will exchange it for a new flask.”

What they exclude
- Improper use or misuse of the product
- Damage or defect caused by cleaning, disassembly, alterations or modifications
- Damage or defect caused by or resulting from wear and tear, abuse, fire, or Acts of God
- Products not purchased from an authorized dealer
- Shipping damage on a flask you have already used
- Incidental or consequential damages, costs or expenses
- Customization or engraving on replacement products — these cannot be reproduced
How to file
File the warranty claim online rather than shipping anything first — for a broken or leaking cap in particular, do not send the flask, just submit the request and expect to supply a photo. If you send a flask in unasked, you pay the return shipping. For an approved claim you will be required to ship the product back for review before a replacement goes out. Bought from a European retailer, claim through that retailer; Canadian purchases can use the online claim form. Have proof of purchase from an authorized dealer ready.

If they say no
A first refusal is not the end — most claims that get paid are the ones that got answered a second time. The ladder that works:
- Reply in the same thread quoting the exact policy line above, with your order number and the date. Ask for a supervisor or a formal complaint reference.
- Escalate to an executive contact if support stalls — a specific, documented request outperforms an angry one.
- Use your payment rail: a card chargeback for "not as described" or "item not received" (typically within 60 days of the statement under the US Fair Credit Billing Act, and up to 120 days under card-network rules — confirm the exact window with your issuer), or a PayPal dispute.
- For lost or damaged shipments, file a claim with the carrier directly.
- Escalate externally: the selling platform's guarantee, BBB, your state attorney general, or the FTC. Small claims is the last resort.
