Bosch warranty & return policy — and how to actually claim it

Every line below is quoted from Bosch's own published policy and linked to the source. If something you bought is covered, Owed's agent can draft and send the claim for you.

Warranty

12 monthsstated window

Bosch warrants the appliance free from defects in materials and workmanship for 365 days from the date of original delivery — and states flatly that the clock will not be stalled, tolled, extended or suspended for any reason, so a long repair or a period where you could not use the appliance buys you nothing. Two provisions are unusually consumer-friendly and most owners never learn them. First, the warranty runs to the original purchaser AND to each succeeding owner during the term, so a Bosch that changes hands keeps its coverage. Second, Bosch says in writing that taking the product to an unaffiliated repair shop will not void the warranty, and that using third-party parts will not void it either — the opposite of what most manufacturers imply, and a right the Magnuson-Moss Act protects. Bosch will still only pay for repairs done by its own authorized providers. Cosmetic defects — stainless scratches, paint or porcelain blemishes, chips, dents — have their own separate 30-day window from delivery, so inspect on arrival. If you live more than 100 miles from an authorized service provider, Bosch will ship parts and pay labor but you are liable for the servicer's travel charges.

In their own words

Bosch warrants that the Product is free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three hundred and sixty-five (365) days from the date of the original delivery.

How Long the Warranty Lasts

The foregoing timeline begins to run upon the date of the original delivery, and shall not be stalled, tolled, extended, or suspended, for any reason whatsoever.

How Long the Warranty Lasts — no tolling

The warranties stated herein apply to the original purchaser of the product warranted herein and to each succeeding owner of the product purchased for ordinary home use during the term of the warranty.

What this Warranty Covers & Who it Applies to

Nevertheless, taking your product to be serviced by a repair shop that is not affiliated with or an authorized dealer of Bosch will not void this warranty. Also, using third-party parts will not void this warranty.

Repair/Replace as Your Exclusive Remedy — third-party repair

If reasonable attempts to repair the Product have been made without success, then Bosch will replace your Product (upgraded models may be available to you, in Bosch’s sole discretion, for an additional charge).

Repair/Replace as Your Exclusive Remedy

Bosch will not incur any liability, or have responsibility, for the Product if it is located in a remote area (more than 100 miles from an authorized service provider) or is reasonably inaccessible, hazardous, threatening, or treacherous locale, surroundings, or environment

Repair/Replace as Your Exclusive Remedy — remote areas

Please make sure to register your Product; while not necessary to effectuate warranty coverage, it is the best way for Bosch to notify you in the unlikely event of a safety notice or product recall.

What this Warranty Covers — registration

What they exclude

  • Use other than normal, customary household use — including any commercial use, storing an indoor product outdoors, or use with air or water-going vessels
  • Willful misconduct, negligence, misuse, abuse, accidents, neglect, improper operation, failure to maintain, improper installation, tampering, failure to follow operating instructions, or unauthorized service including self-performed fixing
  • Adjustment, alteration or modification of any kind
  • Failure to comply with state, local, city or county electrical, plumbing or building codes
  • Ordinary wear and tear, and spills of food, liquid, grease or other substances that accumulate on, in or around the product
  • External or environmental forces — rain, wind, sand, floods, fires, mud slides, freezing, excessive moisture or humidity, lightning, power surges, structural failures and acts of God
  • Service calls to correct installation, instruct you on use, replace house fuses or correct house wiring or plumbing
  • Removal and replacement of trim or decorative panels that interfere with servicing
  • Damage to surrounding property including cabinetry, floors and ceilings
  • Products with altered, defaced or removed serial numbers, and visits where nothing is wrong with the product
  • Display, as is, or previously returned models, and products not bought new from an authorized dealer

How to file

Call Bosch Customer Service at 1-800-944-2904 to schedule a repair. Keep your invoice and delivery documents — the warranty is validated from the delivery date, and you will be asked for the model number (E-Nr.) and production number (FD) from the rating plate. Report any cosmetic damage within 30 days of delivery; after that the cosmetic warranty is gone even though the main warranty runs a full year. If you are outside 100 miles of an authorized provider, expect to negotiate the travel charge separately.

If they say no

A first refusal is not the end — most claims that get paid are the ones that got answered a second time. The ladder that works:

  1. Reply in the same thread quoting the exact policy line above, with your order number and the date. Ask for a supervisor or a formal complaint reference.
  2. Escalate to an executive contact if support stalls — a specific, documented request outperforms an angry one.
  3. Use your payment rail: a card chargeback for "not as described" or "item not received" (typically within 60 days of the statement under the US Fair Credit Billing Act, and up to 120 days under card-network rules — confirm the exact window with your issuer), or a PayPal dispute.
  4. For lost or damaged shipments, file a claim with the carrier directly.
  5. Escalate externally: the selling platform's guarantee, BBB, your state attorney general, or the FTC. Small claims is the last resort.
