Le Creuset enameled cast iron carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty against defects in material and workmanship present at the time of purchase. The term is defined unusually precisely: it begins on the date of purchase and lasts as long as a covered consumer — your lifetime, not the pot's. Coverage extends to the original retail purchaser and to anyone who receives the piece new and unused as a gift from that purchaser, which is worth knowing since Le Creuset is so often given as one. It terminates the moment a covered consumer sells or otherwise transfers the piece, so a secondhand Dutch oven has no warranty regardless of condition. The claim turns on the difference between a defect and abnormal wear: Le Creuset excludes abuse, neglect, abnormal wear or tear, overheating, and any use not in accordance with the cookware instructions — and overheating is the most common real-world cause of enamel damage. Defective cookware is replaced free of charge, or with a similar product or one of equivalent value if yours is no longer in production; the same colour cannot be guaranteed. Note that Le Creuset does not pay to ship the piece in for service.

Submit a claim through the warranty page on lecreuset.com and supply the information requested; allow up to a week for the warranty team to respond. Be ready to show the piece was used per the care and use instructions, because that is a stated condition of the warranty applying at all. Budget for shipping — the warranty expressly does not cover the cost of transporting the utensil to get warranty service.
